Labels:sketch | animal | beak | feather | bird OCR: A bird's wing has the same bone structure as the forelimb of other land vertebrates. The feathers consist of a central quill and two vanes. Each vane has a network of criss- crossing barbs and barbules. The forward- pointing barbules are equipped with small hooks which catch on to the backward pointing barbules. This holds the whole structure of the vane.
